Millennium Campus Network receives first-time grant from Newman’s Own Foundation

22 December 2018 - Millennium Campus Network (MCN) is pleased to announce it has received a first-time grant from Newman’s Own Foundation, the independent foundation created by the late actor and philanthropist, Paul Newman.

MCN convenes and trains emerging social impact leaders on university campuses. The grant is timely: MCN recently celebrated reaching a milestone of 6,000 alumni in its 10th anniversary year. The network also partnered with the United Nations Academic Impact to present the Millennium Fellowship this year. This leadership development program enabled over 400 undergraduate leaders to gain training, connections, and recognition as they advanced the UN Sustainable Development Goals in their communities. With over 200 Fellowship Projects that range from launching an aquaponics farm at Alma College in Michigan to planning a city-wide sustainability summit at the University of Pennsylvania, the Class of 2018 positively impacted the lives of over 350,000 people in 13 nations.

“Newman’s Own Foundation has stood out to us as one of the most intentional funders of millennial support in our sector,” shared Sam Vaghar, Executive Director of MCN. “This grant is powerful validation and provides a remarkable platform as we work to grow our movement of young leaders committed to ethical, collaborative leadership. As we celebrate our 10th anniversary at MCN, we are honored to be supported by Newman’s Own Foundation.”

Newman’s Own Foundation uses all net profits and royalties from the sale of Newman’s Own food and beverage products for charitable purposes. Since 1982, Paul Newman and Newman’s Own Foundation have donated over $535 million to thousands of charities around the world.
